Success Stories - 2019

2011 - Deejay (Brown Head)

February 23, 2012
Deejay is from the second clutch of 2011.  She lives in Toronto with Dad Darcy.  Deejay is named after her Dad's hobby and likes music as well.

2011 - Joey (Brown Head)

February 23, 2012
Joey is happy brownhead from clutch #2 who now lives in Port Moody, BC.  He has learned to mimics the alarm system, microwave, phone and says "Ryan".   Dad Ryan learned to manage Joey’s contact calls by whistling his location in the house because Joey is a “velcro” baby who wants his family 100%.   Joey loves lying on his back and squeezing himself into tight, dark places, rolling over and kicking his feet.  Fruits and vegetables, and chow are tasty but his pecan a day is his favourite.

Dusty - Dusky Pionus

February 23, 2012
"Dusty," as we call our male Dusky Pionus, has adapted well to his new flock of humans and is a joy to have around. He's friendly to strangers (as least when they have a treat for him). He's also a smart little guy, and it doesn't long for him to learn a trick. He's gentle, and even when he's a little annoyed, he never bites hard. He's affectionate, and loves to have his head scratched. He has his favourites in the family, but is good with everyone. Yet, for all the time he likes to spend with us, he also doesn't need to be with us every second. He can also entertain himself when we can't spend time with him. We're very glad he's a part of the family and would recommend a Dusky Pionus to anyone!

2011: Peepa (Brown Head)

February 9, 2012
Zeeva, from the spring clutch, is also called Peepa and she lives in Blenheim ON with her Mom Barbara and Dad Mark.  She is quite the diva and an absolute cuddlebug.  She loves her snuggles with her Dad Mark in the evening.  Zeeva and her cats sit with their dad and she tries to preen the cats' fur or catch their tails with her beak.  She was a good traveller when she visited grandparents in Ottawa at Christmas.

2011: Jewel (Dusky Pionus)

February 9, 2012

This is Jewel eating her favorite fruit, a banana.  Jewel lives in Winnipeg with Mom Tracy.  She is a really good eater and is "the sweetest bird that we have and spoiled rotten".

2011: Emma & Kiwi (Brown Head)

February 9, 2012
Kiwi, from the first clutch of 2011, was very excited to have a sibling from the second clutch join the household.  Emma and Kiwi live in the country near Caledonia, ON with their Mom, Sherry.

ZUMA AND TUNDRA – Brown Head Brothers

Tundra and Zuma, born in April, 2010, moved to their new home in Regina, Saskatchewan, in October, 2010. Their owners built them several fancy branch perches where they love to sit and listen to the crows outside their window. Zuma is the shy brother and copies whatever Tundra does. Their antics are much enjoyed by the family.

2010

Munson* is a diva. It seems that his purpose in life is to have human slaves make him gorgeous at all times of the day. **Leeroy on the other hand will tolerate being cared for like a pharaoh for only so long. He prefers to do the preening and play with his toys.
The two of them have become very comfortable with our two dogs. In fact, Munson enjoys chasing them around the living room. Leeroy draws them in to deliver nips to their snouts.
Both of the boys are picking up sounds very quickly. Munson has learned a couple of phrases, including the name of our one dog that he enjoys chasing the most. Leeroy practices what he has learned just before he gets put to bed for the night.
We enjoy them very much and are glad that they are a part of our household.

*Munson is a red belly baby whose father accidentally damaged his beak. He functions just fine with his shortened beak. **Leeroy was the first brown head brother of four males to leave for a new home in June.

Ziggy – the Bronze Wing Pionus

Ziggy moved to Ottawa in July where he joined a small group of other pet parrots. Although they have their own cages, they all share a sunroom with perches, hanging ropes and lots of toys. He loves to eat corn.
